Desert Jet Hosts Private Event at Jacqueline Cochran Air Show

Desert Jet, the desert's jet aircraft management and charter company, has announced it is hosting a private event for clients and friends during the Eighth Annual Jacqueline Cochran Air Show to be held on Saturday, November 5, 2011 from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm at the Jacqueline Cochran Regional Airport in Thermal, California.

Three of Desert Jet's most popular private jets will be on display at the event; the 8 seat Citation Encore, Citation V and the newest addition to the fleet, a 9 seat Citation Bravo. Desert Jet pilots will be on hand to provide tours of the aircraft and answer questions about flying on private jets. Guests will be able to watch the air show from Desert Jet's shaded private facilities and enjoy a sumptuous catered BBQ lunch with hosted bar.

Melody Tharp of Desert Jet Earns FAA Aircraft Dispatcher License

Desert Jet Acquires Hawker 1000, Expands its Charter Service

La Quinta, CA, September 25, 2010 -- Desert Jet, the desert’s premier on-demand air charter service, has acquired a Hawker 1000 for one of its clients, and has added the aircraft to its charter operations. This makes the second fleet addition for Desert Jet in the last month, doubling the size of their charter fleet.

The super midsize Hawker 1000 has a range of over 3800 miles, capable of nonstop flights coast-to-coast. The Hawker 1000 is larger, faster and has more range than the popular Hawker 800/800XP/900XP family of aircraft, seating nine passengers comfortably with increased cabin and luggage flexibility.

The beautifully appointed cabin has been recently refurbished, featuring leather seats in a neutral sand color and exquisite maple woodwork. The seating capacity for nine passengers consists of six individual seats that berth and a three seat divan that converts to a bed for longer flights. Amenities include a hot galley with microwave and coffee maker, Aircell satellite phone system, DVD/CD entertainment system, Airshow 400 moving map system with 2 viewing screens and individual seat monitors, power outlets at each seat, a privacy door separating the cabin from the flight deck, and full private lavatory with vanity. A 2008 Beechcraft King Air B200GT has joined Desert Jet’s growing fleet. Desert Jet’s new King Air B200GT surpasses similar older vintage turboprops locally available for charter by offering the state-of-the-art Collins ProLine 21 avionics suite and luxurious cabin features. Out of the 8,000 plus companies represented by the NBAA, only 142 individuals have passed the Certified Aviation Manager (CAM) Exam. NBAA’s Certified Aviation Manager (CAM) program recognizes professionals qualified to lead flight departments and companies that utilize business aircraft, as well as professionals that manage aircraft for aircraft charter and management companies. The CAM designation provides industry recognition of those individuals who are qualified to provide business aviation-related services such aircraft charter, aircraft sales and acquisition representation, and consulting services on all matters related to the operation of business aircraft. Wilson is now one of only a handful of professionals in California that are designated as a Certified Aviation Manager by the NBAA.

Applicants for the CAM designation must first qualify to take the exam through a review of the applicant’s job experience, education, professional licenses, and participation in professional development activities. Desert Jet Donates Jet Aircraft for Citation Special Olympics Airlift

Participating Citations are donated to transport competitors and their coaches to the Special Olympics National Games, which will take place at the University of Nebraska Campus in Lincoln, Nebraska on July 17 through 24. Desert Jet Announces Recipient of 2010 Corporate Aviation Management Scholarship

The scholarship, valued at $1,000, is offered to assist charter and corporate pilots in attaining the training needed to move into aviation management roles or start their own aviation-related businesses. Applicants submitted detailed resumes, letters of recommendations, and an essay which described their career goals and how the scholarship would assist in reaching those goals. Desert Jet’s scholarship committee chose Stacey Kotrla as this year’s recipient.

Stacey currently flies a Falcon 2000 for a corporate flight department based in San Diego County. As the Safety Advisor for the flight department, she is currently leading her flight department towards IS-BAO (International Standard of Business Aircraft Operations) certification and implementation of a Safety Management System. This scholarship will assist Stacey in the completion of coursework in the USC Viterbi Safety Management Certificate program which will enable her to not only complete these implementations successfully, but lay the groundwork for future management responsibilities in aviation.

Desert Jet Becomes First Area Charter Provider Authorized to Fly into D.C.’s Reagan Washington National Airport

February 8, 2010, La Quinta, California -- Desert Jet has become the first Palm Springs-based air charter company to be authorized by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to operate charter flights into and out of Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA).

All flights into DCA were restricted after the terrorist attacks on the Pentagon on 9/11, due to DCA’s proximity to Washington D.C. The TSA has since allowed a few selected airlines and Part 135 on-demand charter operators to access to DCA under very stringent security conditions. Although the specific security procedures are confidential, Desert Jet underwent an eight month inspection process to demonstrate procedural and safety compliance with these procedures in accordance with the federally mandated DCA Access Standard Security Program (DASSP).

Flights to DCA must be approved by the TSA 72 hours prior to departure. Stringent background checks are conducted on all crew members and passengers prior to receiving TSA approval for specific flights to DCA. Crew and passengers must be screened by TSA personnel at approved gateway locations. Currently, there are 14 gateways designated, with St. Louis/Lambert Field and Chicago/Midway being the most convenient to the routing between Palm Springs and Washington, D.C. Despite these security restrictions, Desert Jet’s President, Denise Wilson, is pleased to be able to offer Palm Springs area residents and visitors a choice. “This is a significant announcement for our community. Desert Jet Teams with Animal Rescue Organization

June 22, 2009, La Quinta, California -- Desert Jet, the jet charter provider for the Palm Springs area, has teamed with Lucky Star Cavalier Rescue, an animal rescue organization, to provide transport for animals rescued from puppy mills. Through the alliance with this non-profit organization, Desert Jet provides free air transportation for animals rescued from puppy mills that need to travel long distances to unite with their new foster and adopted families.

Puppy mills are mass dog-breeding operations where dogs live their entire lives in filthy cages, only to be used as breeding stock for more dogs. These animals receive little or no veterinary care and never see a bed, a treat or a toy. After their fertility wanes, breeding animals are commonly killed, abandoned or sold to another mill. Occasionally, these dogs are put up for auction. Lucky Star’s mission is to rescue Cavaliers of breeding age, provide medical care, and then find a permanent, caring home for the animal.

Since forging this alliance with Lucky Star Cavalier Rescue in May, Desert Jet has participated in two different rescue transports. Most recently, Desert Jet transported six dogs from a recently-raided puppy mill in Missouri to waiting foster families in California.

Desert Jet Receives Canadian Foreign Air Operating Certificate, Begins Jet Charter Service to Canada

April 27, 2009, La Quinta, California -- Desert Jet, the leading on-demand aircraft charter service company based in the Palm Springs area, is proud to announce the granting by Transport Canada of a Canadian Foreign Air Operating Certificate (FAOC), as well as operating authority from the Canadian Transportation Agency. This certificate grants Desert Jet authority to operate Part 135 on-demand aircraft charters between Canada and the United States, as well as the authority to conduct trips originating from Canada. While “cabotage” rules are still in effect, Desert Jet now has the authority to fly passengers into Canada and then on to other destinations within Canada.

Desert Jet Continues Expansion with New International Jet Charter Service

April 10, 2009, La Quinta, Cailfornia -- Desert Jet, the fast-growing jet charter service company serving the Palm Springs desert area, has expanded its operation to include most of the Western Hemisphere (North American, Central America and South America). Flights are now available from all three desert airports to points as far north as Alaska to as far south as the southern tip of South America.

This authorization was granted to Desert Jet by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Desert Jet is the only operator in the Palm Springs desert region authorized to provide this service. Some examples of the destinations now available from the desert include Grand Cayman, Turks and Caicos, St. Johns, St. Maarten, Costa Rica, Belize, as well as destinations throughout Canada and Mexico. “This expansion will now allow Desert Jet to fly our clients to business and leisure destinations not previously served from the desert,” said Denise Wilson, President of Desert Jet. “The old adage ‘you can’t get there from here’ no longer exists”.

Out of the 8,000 plus companies represented by the NBAA, only 100 individuals have passed the Certified Aviation Manager (CAM) Exam. NBAA’s Certified Aviation Manager (CAM) Program recognizes professionals qualified to lead flight departments and companies that use business aircraft, as well as professionals that offer private jet transportation services. Wilson is the second Desert Jet team member to earn this certification and is now one of only a handful of professionals in California that are designated as a Certified Aviation Manager by NBAA. The CAM certification is used to raise the level of professionalism and quality of flight department management. It is intended to provide industry recognition of those individuals who are qualified to provide business aviation-related services such aircraft charter, assistance with aircraft sales and acquisitions, and aviation consulting.
